This episode put the “Bizarre” in “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure”. Jojo fights someone other than Dio this episode in this crazy serial killer that Dio brought over to the dark side. Even a minor villain like this guy is done completely over the top, with knives appearing all over his body, not to mention his ultimate weapon that is this gigantic row of scissors tied next to each other. And this came from more than 20 years ago.
I’m really beginning to understand why this series was so influential. I mean, this manga started two years after Dragon Ball, and aired right next to Dragonball Z, which looks even more boring in comparison here. It’s obviously inspired by Fist of the North Star, but even then it was its time far ahead.
Also, the basics behind the powers of this series really are imaginative, and I loved how over the top this episode was with something as delicate as breath control. I’ve practiced Karate for 13 years now, so I know how important breath is in fighting: it can make a world of difference in terms of the impact of your attacks. Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure takes that concept, and just brings it over 9000 by giving it all sorts of powers and magic sparkles.
In fact, this huge power with delicate things seems to be a very big theme in this series. This episode also had that magician guy do all sorts of fancy stuff with his pinky finger, the behind Dio’s powers is also something that can probably be easily broken. And the way in which that magician used pepper when he was first introduced (and sneezed himself off the fence in result) probably also has to do with it.
Rating: 5/8 (Great)
Quick thing that serial killer was Jack the Ripper. Aka the serial killer every one has heard of.
Can someone explain how did he enter the horse’s body?
He ripped its head off and went inside it.
Closed horsetrack, professional necrobeasticon; do not attempt.
Dropped.
2bizzare4you?
Yeah, this where I stopped reading the manga, the part of with the horses was just too gross! Glad they toned down the gore in the anime; looking forward to see the rest of the weird plot!
It’s just amazing how much passion and energy are there in the delivery of every line of dialog no matter how simple or silly it is, that’s something i missed since it has been absent from most recent animes .. Jojo fills that “hot blooded, gutsy, over-the-top romp” really well.
It was also surprising when i checked the older OVAs it wasn’t really as over-the-top or energetic in its delivery as the Jojo series here, i was kinda surprised since i thought this energy was carried over from the manga and would be found also in the older OVAs .. but it seems the passionate over-the-top delivery here is actually the result of the director being passionate about the source material(the OVAs show the events from the 3rd arc of the manga .. while the series here shows the first arc).
All in all, another enjoyable episode .. just can’t get enough from all that craziness and over the top stuff Jojo keeps throwing at the viewers … now i’m genuinely interested in the manga and the video games and plan on getting the new Jojo fighting game XD
first part was partially based on north star, ovas were based on 3rd part, and over time it gets more fabulous and bizarre.
part 2 has probably the most memorable jojo for many, being both hilarious and badass at the same time.
part 3 was probably where araki develops the concept of Stands, while part 4 was more of experimentation and perfection of the concept of stands, which is why I hold the series in high regard. There are going to be many memorable fights, mostly because at least 80 percent of the fights can be based on planning, logic, and legit twists, with barely any asspulls, willpower bs, or powerlevels. There’s going to be some oddass powers along with oddass uses of powers. have fun!
Thanks for the info, i also heard the TV series here is going to cover the 1st and 2nd arcs (hopefully), while the old OVAs covered the 3rd arc already (there were some “Jojo timeline” videos along side the OVAs that actually showcase the story from the 1st and 2nd arc before they got animated as a TV series).
Wonder if we will ever get the 4th arc as animation (either TV or OVA XD) .. oh and there is 5th ongoing one too .. right !!?
probably going to get 7 parts animated if we’re lucky. so far sales in japan for jojo have been relatively damn good. one of the promos for the anime seems to suggest it as well.
I hope they adapt part 3 too in a future season.
The ovas while good, and have some nice 90 animation. They are kinda incomplete, they cut off a lot of minor stands and characters.
Part 3 has to be done again.
There are 8 Jojos
7 parts are completed.
while part 8 is ongoing.
Hunter X Hunter and JoJo are unique in the shonen genre.
They are just different from others.
