Short Synopsis: Teito tries to sneak out in order to save Mikage.
Episode Rating: 8/10 (Excellent)
I’m still surprised at actually how good this series turned out to be. From the outside it really looks like yet another overly angsty bishie-filled Vampire Knight, but at the same time this show has consistently delivered so far. The characters have impact, the setting looks intriguing and the story is very properly paced. Heck, this episode was mainly just meant for building up, and yet I loved it.
This episode also convinced me of something completely different: this show has a weird sense of humour. The scene with the fishy eyeballs was simply mental. I mean, who ever found the idea to make these things tasty? The antics of the three sisters also were simply hilarious. What the heck was up with that Christmas tree?!
On a more serious note, it’s good to see that Teito hasn’t forgotten about Mikage. Although I foresee a dull training arc in the future, it’s good to see him growing that way, and I was also surprised at the brutality of Ayanami’s torture: he’s now willing to involve Mikage’s sister in order to squeeze the information out of him, and it really contrasts with how much of an easy life Teito is leading, protected by all the ghosts and all.
This episode also showed that Ayanami isn’t exactly your average evil overlord, as he too has superiors he has to obey and also doesn’t seem to know why exactly Teito is special. My guess would be that he killed Teito’s father simply because he was ordered to. I’m also intrigued as to why he has so many henchmen, especially since all of them have distinctive character-designs.
Dropped this series after the first episode. Unlike Vampire Knight, which is actually decent if nowhere near as good as the manga, this turned out to be just a generic shounen-ai series. The side characters and villains are just cool for the sake of being cool and make zero impact. Well, whatever floats your boat, I guess. But if you are so into this, you might want to try Kyou Kara Maou.
I hated Vampire Knight, especially the main trio. How I wanted some Shiki to have a feast on them all and kill them off for good. Only the side characters were likable.
I’m still not sure how this turns out to be. It’s hard to judge from the couple of episodes (still waiting for episode 3 subs). The gay vibes doesn’t bother me. What show doesn’t have them these days? I already like the nuns and I can’t wait to see when the mermaid girl is introduced.
You can never know when a mediocre show can become something good. Like Pandora Hearts. I’m gonna stick with this one for a while.
So ,the nuns are getting more screen times in the anime? Sounds good.
The fact that this is a shounen-ai series is ok,but i have a problem with its character design…all blonde characters are exactly looked like the same.
Vampire Knight? The characters are annoying. AGREED.Aido for his gay-like traits and Kaname for just become the “perfect-human” type bishies.
I’ve had enough of this series with episode two. It’s evident this will turn into shounen trash, the likes of Naruto… Good luck finishing it!
I liked Vampire Knight, but it has indeed been so overly angsty for my tastes =_=
I didn’t get some of the stuff in this episode because there were additions and changes compare to the manga, so I’m thankful for this that I get to understand the raw better. Hehe.
I agree that it had been a good episode. Can’t wait for the next! Yay!
07ghost is not the same as Vampire Knight. Characters in vampire knight get at some point to be a bit anoying. 07ghost once the plot is finally developed you get to see the real interesting side of the characters. You see a fair good base of drama and a very funny comical relief here and there thanks to our lovely Frau, and some other characters.
I totally agree that 07 Ghost has reminiscent vibes of Vampire Knight in terms of angsty-ness, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that there is a similarity. VK was just plain fandom for girls who desired hot vampire boyfriends (Twilight anyone?). The story was just so overdramatic I swear I was going through an anime version of a sitcom. Ugh. The characters were so one sided and didn’t have any depth, which absolutely gets on my nerves. 07, as I’ve read the manga up till the latest releases, is a LOT different. Now the big question is how Deen is going to follow up on the manga. So far it hasn’t done too shabby a job, but there have been changes (which is good, we we like a bit a variety, don’t we?) to some of the characters and events, but it’s been solid so far. Nothing big happening yet- that won’t happen for sometime, I’m telling you that right now. 07 hasn’t let me down, but it hasn’t risen my hopes up like Pandora Hearts (which has gone beyond my expectations to my greatest pleasure WOO!). Let’s hope it stays on track, solid, and maybe- hopefully, have some awesome points in the long run. 😀
Vampire Knight anime? Ugh. As soon as I saw the OP, I dropped it like a hot potato.
Now, at first I was apprehensive with the whole shounen-ai feel of the anime but it did get me to read the manga, and I’ve got to say that the bishienest of the characters were exaggerated in the anime. Teito, in the manga is more of a wisecrack and more independent than that weak, lame, girly portrayal in the anime.
Agree with the post above. Compared with VK , 07 Ghost is a lot more mature, at least the characters are not there just for cool and don’t have overly cheesy love which leads to nothing whatsoever. But if compared 07 Ghost to Pandora Hearts, PH is a lot better at keeping the readers on edge and the story is getting more and more like you are reading mysterious horror novel that you don’t care about the shounen-ai factor anymore. It’s gone a lot beyond my expectation.
ok humm no one seems to have just good points about this anime, i personally think its really good good plot, i want soem of the fish things though, the spells look good, tension will be good, i personally like the artwork. i think that this is going to be really good, make even get as good as law of ueki don’t know why but i feel that they are similar somehow i get the same feeling when watching it.
but seriously when is he gunna get rid of the shackles aint they hurting yet?
Difference between VK is 07G obvious from second episode (and now, even more). Just like between any two series, where one is mindless and in other almost everything (characters, their actions, story… at least for now) makes sense. (same thing with Naruto, btw))
The humor is strange (not really funny, not for me at least), the nuns are annyoing (not to mention every of them looks the same), the priests (or whatever they are) must be a bad joke, the shounen-ai-“hints” are… well… (I think at the scene when one of the priests took a flower in the hair of Teito *eyes rolls*)… and what is up with Mikage (I think that was his name)? Will the show end in a fight between Taito and him or what? Can’t see anything new or orignial in this series (but the fight scenes were nice… somehow). Seriously: the first episode was surprisingly good, the characters charming (the relationship between Teito and Mikage was told very nice), I wanted to watch the second, but… its getting worse by every new episode.
About Vampire Knight: I was always surprised how a show (and the mange) can get so much popularity WITHOUT a plot. Never read (and seen) in my whole life a thing that was so plotless.
